Women's Social Day
28 October 2008

On 28 October 2008 AIS Women's Network organized a day of socializing for a group of fifteen women from various backgrounds and cultures. The group started the day by a visit to Dallas where they browsed through the shopping centre. Headed by Turkan Cicek, AIS women's Network Coordinator, the group of women then visited some stores where products representing Turkish culture are sold.

Following an exciting period of shopping they went to a popular Turkish restaurant at Roxburgh Park to try out some traditional Turkish cuisine. During the meal the group of women had the opportunity to further strengthen the bonds of friendship in a warm friendly atmosphere.

The AIS Women's Network aims to enhance social cohesion through such multicultural social interactions. They believe that learning each other's customs and traditions through social activities will bring people closer and create a medium for living in harmony. For the past two years, Women's Network have been organizing events such the annual Women's only Dinner, cooking classes, interfaith visits and private home Iftars.
