Luncheon I
The Australian Intercultural society continues its prestigious Luncheon Forums on 28 February 2012 at the beautiful Sofitel Melbourne. The keynote will be delivered by Ian Gray, Chief Justice Magistrate, who will address the topic "
The approach taken in the Magistrates' Court of Victoria in dealing with cultural and religious diversity and engagement with the broader community".  

Ian Gray was appointed as the Chief Magistrate of Victoria in March 2001, and leads 112 magistrates covering 52 court locations throughout the State of Victoria. The Australian Intercultural Society will soon be sending out the invitations...


AIS LUNCHEON FORUMS 2011

An exciting new luncheon series were launched by the Australian Intercultural Society on the 28 June 2011 at the Intercontinental Hotel, Melbourne the Rialto. David de Kretser, former Governor of Victoria. was the keynote speaker the inaugural event. The forums are designed to cultivate friendship, celebrate multiculturalism, promote dialogue, social harmony and social inclusiveness and deepen intercultural awareness among the many diverse cultures of Australia.

3 November 2011 Luncheon III
The Australian Intercultural Society continued its luncheon forums on 3 of November at Sofitel Melbourne with Dr Peter Hollingworth, former Governor General of Australia delivering the keynote speech on "what is Social Cohesion and how does it work in Australia."

28 June 2011 Luncheon I
The inaugural event was held at the Intercontinental Hotel, Melbourne the Rialto. Deputy Police Commissioners, Commissioner of Human Rights & Equal Opportunities Commission, Victoria, Religious leaders, Consul Generals of various nations and community leaders attended the prestigious event. Keynote speaker, professor David de Kretser, former Governor of Victoria was invited to the microphone by Helen Szoke, Commissioner of Human Rights and Equal Opportunities Commission of Victoria. Guests who participated in the event enjoyed an intriguing keynote speech entitled 'Harmony'. The event continued with lunch and refreshments. 21 July  2011 Luncheon II
The second of the AIS luncheon series  was held again at the Intercontinental Hotel, Melbourne the Rialto. Keynote speaker Ken Lay, Acting Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police talked about policing and multicultural communities. He mentioned about the important work done by the Victoria Police in regards to understanding the different cultures in Victoria and how policing can be improved through interaction with community and faith leaders. Ken Lay was welcomed to the microphone by Hass Dellal OAM, the executive director of the Australian Multicultural Foundation. There were several questions put forward to the Acting Chief Commissioner about the integration of new migrants and the role of the Police.
