Noah's Ark Boat Cruise & Neighborhood Day

Noah's Ark Boat Cruise is a new initiative launched by the AIS on December 2010. The event was a great success where 120 guests from different cultures and faiths joined together on a boat representing Noah's Ark. This year, the Australian Intercultural Society is organizing its second Noah's Ark Boat Cruise. The four-hour cruise includes the serving of the traditional "kavurma" dish which represents the meat of the ram sent to Ishmael the son of Abraham along with the popular "Asurah" Noah's Pudding. The event aims to provide an atmosphere where guests from different backgrounds cruise together on a boat that symbolizes Noah's Ark. The Australian Intercultural Society will soon be sending out the invitations to its guests.

Date: Tuesday, 29 November 2011        Name of Cruise Boat: Lady Cutler

Whirling Dervishes of RUMI - Sheb Arus: Commemoration of Rumi's death

Each year, on the 17th of December, the Australian Intercultural Society organizes a special Sema ceremony offered by the Mevlevi Order of Australia to celebrate the great Sufi master Rumi’s ‘Sheb-i Arus’ or ‘Wedding with Eternity’. This year, the event was be held at Malvern Town Hall and everyone was invited. The Australian Intercultural Society would like to thank the Mevlevi order of Australia for sharing their special night with the members of the society at large. The Australian Intercultural Society would also like to thank the Australian Sufi Music Group for their performance and the Stonington Council for their support.
