II. National Social Cohesion Conference

Theme:

"Australian Jewish Experience & Challenges faced by Muslim"

A Social Cohesion seminar will be held at Melbourne University on 24 February, to address the ways in which the isolation experienced by the Muslim community in Australia might be positively overcome.

The seminar aims to assist the Muslims of Australia understand the experiences of the Jewish community in Australia and their story of success, learning how they struggled against the difficult climate of integration in Australia and achieved acceptance by the wider Australian community.

Audiences will have the opportunity to hear personal examples illustrating the significance and role that the education system, academia and institutions such as the Jewish Museum and other communal institutions established by the Jewish community had in the successful inclusion of the Jewish community in Australia.

The seminar will be held between 6-9pm.  Those interested can register on the AIS website.
