DEER PARK MOSQUE OPEN DAY
27 July 2008

Despite the cold, cloudy Melbourne winter day, the Bosnian Mosque attracted a crowd of over 70 on the 27 July 2008 when the Bosnian Islamic Society opened its doors to general public. It was an Open Day organized by the Australian Intercultural Society and the Bosnian Islamic Society. The program commenced with Imam Muhammad Efendi's recitation from the holy Quran. The guests were then divided into two groups for an information session which took about 45 minutes. During the session, guests were given the opportunity to ask questions regarding the Mosque, Islamic practices and belief. Following the program, visitors were invited to the Mosque's canteen where they were offered traditional Bosnian finger foods and refreshments. Amongst the guests were members of the Victorian Police and visitors from the Jewish and Catholic communities.
