On 23 December 2009 the Australian Intercultural Society continued its annual celebration of the Neighborhood Day marked by the traditional Ashurah Day. Sharing of Ashurah (Noah's Pudding) coincides with many significant historical days such as the day that the floods of Noah resided, the day that Adam was forgiven and the day that Moses split the Red Sea in two. The sharing of this delicious sweet is practiced by both Muslims and Christians in particular around the Mediterranean region. The AIS has brought the tradition of the Neighborhood Day to Australia by sharing the Noah's Pudding each year with different faith groups and government bodies. This year, the AIS visited Broadmeadows Police station to share Noah's Pudding with the regional Chief Superintendent, Inspectors and members of Victoria Police. |
