Sunshine Mosque Open Day & Prayer for the Bushfire Victims

AIS and the Sunshine Mosque Staff invited Melbournians to take the opportunity to understand Islam through direct encounter with a Mosque and an information session designed to clarify many issues including certain misconceptions regarding Islam. The Mosque Open Day event was organized in a way that during the second half of the program, visitors were split into smaller groups in which they got the opportunity to ask questions. This was a unique occasion however, Catholic Archbishop Dennis Hart also attended the event included a special memorial session for the Victorian Bushfires. There was an interfaith prayer offered by the Archbishop and Omer Atilla from AIS. Archbishop Dennis Hart acknowledged the efforts made by the Muslim community to lend a helping hand to the victims. He said that it was wonderful to see people of all faiths coming together to do what they can for the Victorian Bushfire victims. The Imam of Sunshine Mosque and the AIS board members thank the Archbishop for joining them in this significant day of mourning. Following the program, guests were invited to the meals area of the Mosque where they helped themselves to traditional finger foods.
