The Polish Friv2Online Games Studio has been releasing Sniper Ghost Warrior games since 2010. And if the first parts of the line fell under the derogatory term "Polish shooter", then the latter cannot be called such. And Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 feels like one of the best sniper games right now. Read more about the project in our review.

After an unsuccessful experiment with the open world in Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, game developers decided to change the concept in favor of sandbox levels, where players, in the role of a professional sniper with the call sign Raven, have to complete contracts to kill targets, preferably with passing tests.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts, released in 2019 and becoming a kind of restart of the series, sent the main character to Siberia, but the brand new Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 changes frost to heat: the friv game takes place in the fictional Kuamar region in the Middle East, where Raven must eliminate the incoming to power the widow of a local dictator and her henchmen, because of the ambitions of which a large-scale war could break out.

After a short introduction, we are shown the mission selection window, and at first it is puzzling: only five tasks? However, the first impression is deceptive: each of the cards is able to delay for a couple of hours, and this is only for the closing of the main contracts.

If you want to pay attention to the tests, you can safely multiply this time by two or three times: many are mutually exclusive (for example, they require you to kill the target in several different ways), so perfectionists will have to repeatedly return to already visited maps. The tests are divided into difficulty levels: the bronze ones are the easiest, the silver ones are more difficult, and you will have to work hard to complete the gold ones.

And it's worth it: completing the challenges brings money and tokens. The first ones are spent on buying weapons and upgrades for them: in the arsenal there are about a dozen short, medium and long range sniper rifles, several assault rifles, auxiliary weapons like pistols, as well as various gadgets - several types of grenades, first aid kits, a drone, an autonomous turret and etc.

Tokens are also required for pumping. With their help, you can improve the ability of a sniper. For example, upgrade the tactical visor, which is activated by pressing a button and highlights enemies, ledges that you can climb on, and other objects. Or reinforce the suit with armored plates, reduce movement noise, increase the amount of ammunition carried, and so on.

Locations in Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 are divided into two types. Some are vast regions where you can move freely. Such a map consists of several zones and is densely packed with mercenaries, and often here you need to get into the lair of the enemy, and tasks are not limited to eliminating persons objectionable to the curator - you can be forced, for example, to upload a virus to a computer network. The second type of locations is "sniper": here, as in Hitman: Sniper Challenge, you have to lie in ambush and shoot targets at a distance of more than a kilometer.

In any case, you are waiting for beautiful views of the eastern desert, dumb opponents (seriously, sometimes I managed to crawl literally under the noses of the fighters), as well as impressive demonstrations of a heavy bullet hitting an enemy’s carcass, which relish in detail the destruction of the part of the body that was hit by the shot. In order for the hit to be accurate, you will have to take a stable position, hold your breath, take into account gravity, the strength and direction of the wind. In which case, the red dot in the sight will mark the place where the bullet will fall, but if desired, it can be turned off for greater realism.

If we talk about the shortcomings of the friv game, then it still cannot be saved in any place, and checkpoints are sometimes placed not very conveniently. Some locations have a very confusing structure, and it can be difficult to navigate them. Here you can, if you wish, put a sniper rifle behind your back and try to resolve issues with the help of the good old open battle, but it is not recommended to do this: although the opponents are not quick-witted, they shoot accurately, and everyone in the district immediately runs to the alarm signal. This is not a minus, but it is worth taking note if you thought that you had a Call of Duty clone in front of you.

Finally, for the third time, the same Friv2Online Games Studio trick is unlikely to be pulled off. Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is a good friv game, but, in fact, we have a reskin of the previous part, where from the new one there is only a different scene of action. Yes, in the absence of good sniper simulators, Contracts 2 simply has no competitors, but I hope that the next installment of the series will offer us something more.
