The ‘Not-So Holy Comedy Debate’

The Not-So Holy Comedy Debate – “Is laughter the best medicine?”

On Monday the 19th of August, the AIS in partnership with the Jewish Community Council of Victoria (JCCV) & with the generous support of the City of Melbourne and the Victoria Government, hosted the fourth instalment of the Not-So Holy Comedy Debate on the topic “Is laughter the best medicine?”

This year’s debate was moderated by the returning Father Bob Maguire and featured a number of clever and hilarious panellists including Annie Louey, Sam Gebreselassie and Michael Shafer of the affirmative and Justine Sless, Cemil Yildiz and Jacob Sacher of the negative team.

The winners of this year’s debate were the hilarious negative team who argued, ironically, that laughter is not the best medicine. The event provided a great platform for promoting cross-cultural and interfaith awareness, and guests were certainly treated to a laugh.
